Pregnancy Update: Week 27

I finally had my big ultrasound a few weeks ago and we got some fantastic news.  Everything moved like it was supposed to, so hopefully we are a go for a vbac.  The baby looks perfect and healthy and normal.  Baby is still measuring 6 days ahead, which isn't a surprise.  It's been measuring exactly 6 days ahead my entire pregnancy, starting with my first ultrasound at 7 weeks.  Big babies run in both sides of my family.  If baby is born full term, then I fully expect baby to weigh at least 8lbs.  Although 9 and 10 lb babies are fairly normal for my family.

We also found this out and we are beyond excited!

Everything else is going fairly normally.  Last Sunday and Monday nights I had this weird horrific pain.  It felt like all the muscles in the upper half of my abdomen got wicked tight, then every so often I would have what felt like a contraction (but it didn't radiate all the way down).  I still have no idea what caused it.  The on-call dr. sent me to the hospital Sunday night, but they didn't really find anything.  They ran a bunch of tests, but everything came back normal.  What ever the heck was going on though was strong enough to register on the contraction monitor.  The nurse called them "uterine disturbances"; and I seriously haven't felt that much pain since I was in labor with the boys.  It was beyond ridiculously painful.  Thankfully I have been feeling better.  It took several days for the ache to finally go away.  I saw the Dr. on Wednesday and he said it sounded like contractions (great).  Only 3 more months to go, let's hope we make it that far.  To say I have been a little paranoid about having preterm labor issues again would be an understatement.  Hopefully I will feel a bit better once I make it to 30 weeks.

I had my hospital tour on Thursday, it went well.  It was loooong though, it lasted an hour and a half and was very educational.  The lady talked and talked and talked about all sorts of things.  John and I both wish a little bit that we could have the baby at the hospital I had the boys at, but it's an hour away and not an option.  Really my complaints are minor, the rooms aren't terribly big, and the family snack area is sorely lacking.  There are lots of things I do like though.  They have queen size beds in postpartum (awesome!).  Everything related to your pregnancy and birth is on the same floor, labor & delivery, postpartum, and the NICU.  In all the labor and delivery rooms they have giant jetted tubs, which look surprisingly inviting.  And I am a bit overly excited about this one, they include Dad's meals at no charge now.  So when I go to order my meals (which I can have brought up to my room whenever the kitchen is open and not at a set predetermined time), I order two, one for each of us.

I'm getting really excited to meet our new baby.  February is only 3 months away, but sometimes it seems much longer than that.  We still have a lot to do to get ready, plus the upcoming holidays, and the boys' birthday in January.  I hope it goes by quickly!

Pregnancy Exhaustion and Other Randomness

I was so excited early in my pregnancy that I would be able to blog all about my pregnancy.  Hah!  I had forgotten just how tired pregnancy makes me.  Although I have more energy than I did in my first trimester, it's still work, home, family time, dinner, bed.  I stayed up a week or two ago and watched the newest Star Trek with John and was all proud of my accomplishment.  I was like, high five!  I totally stayed awake the whole movie!  I'm lucky to get an hour of time with John after the boys go to bed before I start nodding off on the couch.

Caffeine is now sadly my new friend.  I have never been much of a caffeine drinker, but most days now I find myself having some just to feel "normal" during the day.  Well that, and so hopefully I can try and find the energy to stay awake in the evenings and to try and get some extra stuff done on weekends.

According to my Dr everything is going well, although he does want me on Progesterone.  Since I had a lot of issues with preterm labor with the boys, he thinks it's a really good idea.  I'm not overly thrilled, but if it will keep this baby baking longer, then that's a good thing.  I really don't want to have to deal with the complications, stress, and anxiety I had with the boys again this time.  The big ultrasound is scheduled for the 23 (finally!) I will be 22 weeks, and half-way done.  I'm a little nervous.  We will be finding out if my placenta has moved out of the way, if the baby is healthy so far, and the gender.  I'm really most concerned about the health of the baby.  Honestly I would be ok with waiting to find out the gender until baby is born, but John is anxious to know, and we can plan better this way.

The boys are doing great, they constantly amaze me with how smart they are.  They seem to always be learning and picking up on stuff, both good and bad.  Potty training is going slowly, but smoothly.  They are much better about knowing when they need to pee in the potty, pooping though not so much.  But we'll get there, I'm very happy with the progress they've made so far.  They really encourage each other too, which I think is adorable.  When one goes in the potty the other gets sooo excited.  Oliver says a lot: "Yay Owy, you peed in da potty!" and starts jumping around.

They are getting excited for Halloween.  They have to point out all the pumpkins to us every time we see one.  I still haven't quite decided what their costumes should be.  I really need to get on that.  It looks like this weekend will finally feel like Fall, and I have some yummy baking planned.  Happy Fall, and here's to hoping I can find the energy to get back to blogging more!

Placenta Previa or Why Can't I Have A Normal Pregnancy?

Warning: This may contain a bit of TMI.  You know, if you're uncomfortable with bodily functions.  Also, all the information I have here has been gathered from my doctor and nurse, John’s Google search, and my new favorite website, the Mayo Clinic.  I am by no means an expert.

I was really really hoping that since we are going to be having just one baby this time around that I would have a normal, complication free pregnancy.  Apparently not.  At this point I don't think there is much "normal" about what my body decides to do.  (Seriously, I freakin' breastfed twins for 8 months and my body did not suppress ovulation.  In fact my cycle started back up almost immediately after giving birth.)

Everything with my pregnancy had been going fairly normally until 13 weeks.  I had had a really long day.  I started work at 7am, came home grabbed John and the boys, we all went to an appointment, stopped by John’s parents, then went to the grocery store.  By the time we got home in the evening it was about 8pm or so.  Right when we got home I started bleeding.  Which completely freaked me out, because really that’s not supposed to happen right?!  I called the on call dr which wasn’t much of a help, so we went off to the ER.  At this point we were both pretty terrified.  Thankfully though, other than the bleeding everything looked fine and the baby had a strong heartbeat.  I went in for an ultrasound the next day and the baby seemed fine.  I finally got to see my Dr. at the beginning of the following week.  Turns out I have partial placenta previa.  This means that the placenta attached very very low, and the bottom of it was covering the cervix.  When that happens it can cause bleeding; so I was instructed to try and “take it easy”, and to not really lift anything.  The Dr did say that this is actually fairly common, turns out that some women have it and it doesn’t affect them at all.  He said that as my pregnancy progresses my uterus will keep moving upward which should move the placenta away from the cervix and essentially things should go back to “normal”.   He is pushing my big ultrasound back to 22 weeks (boo!) in order to give everything enough time to move.  If it hasn’t moved then that would be surprising, and I would be forced to have another c-section.  If the placenta is over the cervix during a vaginal delivery it could cause serious hemorrhaging.  So here’s to hoping that things will look good here in a few weeks.

We're in Kansas City!

We are in Kansas City right now for John's Baseball Birthday weekend.  I have been super excited about our weekend away!  It will great to spend the weekend alone with John.  As much as I adore the boys, it's nice to be able to get away.

After going out to lunch and spending the afternoon with the boys, we dropped them off with John's parents and headed down to KC.  We got to our hotel at about 10:30 last night, got settled, then went for a late dinner at Steak N Shake.  After our disaster at one on the way to NY last year I was a little hesitant, but pleasantly surprised that our experience there last night was very good.  The plan for today is to maybe check out the mall, get some awesome Zarda's BBQ, then head to Kauffman stadium to see the Royals play the Red Sox tonight!  We have tickets to tomorrow's game too, after which we are going to head back home.

I'm looking forward to an awesome night of baseball tonight!  Anyone else have fun plans for this weekend?

Semi-Wordless Wednesday: We Saw Weird Al!

Last week we left the kiddos with John's parents and headed up to the Orpheum in Omaha to see Weird Al with our friends P&W.  They convinced us that getting front row tickets would be totally worth it, and they were so right!  We had such a great time!  John and P are the biggest fans, but thanks to John, his music has grown on me over the years.  (Although I have always loved Amish Paradise.)  This is the second time I've gone with John to see Weird Al, and he always puts on a really fun show.  Complete with several costume changes and hilarious little video clips while they are changing (it amazes me how fast they can do that!)  Here are some pics from my phone (so they aren't the greatest) that I managed to snap during the concert.

This photo doesn't do the Orpheum justice.  It was absolutely gorgeous inside.

Waiting for the concert to start.

Amish Paradise, it's my favorite!

Perform This Way.  The costumes were perfect, I laughed through the whole thing.

White and Nerdy, he actually came out riding a segway!

Encore, The Saga Begins.

John, Me, W, & P.  I stole this photo from P.  We had such a great time!

It's Been A Long Day, and I Have Serious Pregnancy Brain

Today (Sunday) has been one seriously long day, it started out bad and didn't really get a whole lot better.  I woke up in the middle of the night after only a few hours of sleep all hot, sweaty, and feeling like I wanted to be sick.  I HATE that feeling, but I guess I hate actually getting sick even more.  Anyways, apparently I didn't eat enough before bed, because I was having morning sickness.  Seriously?!  I was sound asleep, and I managed to have morning sickness, ugh.  I got up, forced down some food, took my morning sickness med, and then eventually was able to get to sleep.  I crashed on the couch just in case I woke up feeling sick again; I never sleep as well on the couch as I do in my comfy bed.  When the boys woke up I was still exhausted and not feeling very well.  (John works third shift on the weekends, so he hadn't been asleep terribly long when the boys woke up.)  The boys are such sweethearts, they understood Mommy wasn't feeling well.  They were perfect; they spent the morning cuddled with me on the couch watching cartoons.  I love lazy, snuggley mornings.

I had a giant fail with dinner, I totally blame it on my pregnancy brain.  I decided to make BBQ Chicken in the crock-pot....mmmmm.....  My chicken wasn't fully defrosted so I tossed it in the crock-pot with some water to get it cooking before I added the BBQ sauce.  Well when I went to add the sauce I heard a big crack.  I shut it off and un-plugged it,  took everything out and looked it all over and it looked fine, so I put it back together.  I added my sauce, set it to high, and then let it cook.  Awhile later I went back out and turned it to low.  About dinner time I pulled out my meat thermometer to check the chicken, went over to the crock-pot and realized I had never plugged it back in! AH!  So John and I ended up eating dinner very late.  Pregnancy brain strikes again!

Just before bedtime poor Oliver got sick all over the couch.  It was pretty much out of nowhere, he had been acting ok all day, other than not really eating a whole lot during the day.
Thankfully it was only once and we have survived the first 24 without anyone else getting sick, here's to hoping we make it the next 24.  On the plus side he used the potty once on Saturday, twice on Sunday, and once on Monday. Yay!

Throwback Thursday - Reasons Why I Miss Mass

Summer is my favorite season and I eagerly look forward to it during our very cold winters.  And every year I forget just how HOT it gets here.  We've been in the 90's for I don't know how long, and will probably continue to stay there for most of the rest of the summer.  I grew up in New England and I seriously miss the weather there.  Yes there is a lot more snow, but they know how to handle it there.  If we hit the 90's for a few days in a row it was a heat wave.  I miss the breezy summer days that smelled of the ocean and temps in the upper 70's to mid 80's.  Or maybe my memories just seem pretty rosy from over here.

I miss my family (Mimi and Papa), and my friends (Me, Kate, Sara).

I miss spending days in Boston, I miss the beautiful ocean and spending days at the beach.

I miss Woodman's and their amazing food, the fried clams are my favorite.  Mmmm......

I miss the food, like lobster (omg delicious!), and the "small" ice cream from Carter's just up the road from where I grew up.

It's A Baby!

It's official, we're having a baby!  According to my 7 week ultrasound it looks like we will be having just one baby this time around, due at the end of February.  Apparently baby is already measuring big (6 days ahead!), so we don't quite have a firm due date yet.  My plan is to post in a bit more detail later how things have been going.  But this explains my absence around here, the pregnancy exhaustion has hit me big time.  I've had very little energy, it's been pretty much work, home, then bed as soon as the kiddos do.  Here is a picture of our little blob, aka baby =)

It took what felt like forever for it to finally sink in that I am pregnant.  It took us so long to have the boys, that when it didn't this time, I had a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around it.  It wasn't until after I had the ultrasound that it really started to sink in.  Thankfully I haven't had much in the way of morning sickness *knock on wood*, just the sheer exhaustion that comes with pregnancy.  Things are looking good so far, and we are wicked excited to welcome our new little addition in just 7 short months!

Wordless Wednesday: For My Dad

I took these on a relatively cool June 1.  I dressed them in one of their few identical outfits and realized that they reminded me of my dad and what he wears to band practice.  It made me smile.

Owynn, he loves his and his brother's bear.

Oliver, for some reason he likes to love his bear by the neck.

Yay for Summer and A Very Late Happy 4th of July!

I love Summer, it's my favorite season.  Although I suppose I could deal without the constant temps near 100, blech!  We unfortunately haven't been out to enjoy the summer as much as I would like, but we have been having a lot of fun at home.

Oliver, he asked me to "cheese" him.

Owynn

Oliver and Owynn, they are getting so big!

We had a super fun 4th of July, it's one of my favorite holidays.  We spent it with our best friends, enjoying great food and great company.  We went swimming in the afternoon, which the boys love.  Oliver likes to just float around, while Owynn tries to be a little fish; he keeps telling us that he wants to swim by himself.  John and Owynn spent most of the night outside watching everyone light off fireworks.  Our friends parent's let Owynn use these giant noise canceling headphones, which helped him a lot.  Thank you W for helping keep an eye on him too, he had fun sitting with you guys!  Once the fireworks started Oliver was terrified, and we wound up spending the night inside.  I felt pretty bad for him, I was the same way when I was little.

Oliver at the beginning of the night

Owynn was annoyed that I stopped him from playing so I could take his picture.
Oliver and Owynn when the fireworks started.  Oliver spent most of the night like this.

Sunday after the 4th we had our annual scavenger hunt, which is always a blast.  We had a ton of fun, and the team I was on won, yay!  After that we enjoyed a super yummy cookout, mmm....  I love cookouts during the summer, they're my favorite.

We have some other fun things coming up soon, here's to hoping the rest of the summer is just as fun!

It's Been A Week!

It's been a long week over here.  Nothing major really happened, but between work and home I'm pretty worn out.  I'm really hoping our summer slow down is finally happening at work, it was slightly better this week.  I found this floating around facebook and it totally cracked me up.

I totally got chewed out by a lady this week because we didn't inform her that she was out of refills.

The boys have been alternating between absolutely adorable and little stinkers getting into everything.  More so adorable though.  Tuesday Owynn woke up from his nap early before Oliver so we snuggled on the couch and watched some cartoons.  Too soon though I had to get up to make dinner, so he settled himself into my spot on the couch to quietly watch cartoons while waiting for Oliver to wake up.  He is surprisingly good about not trying to wake Oliver up when he's sleeping.

Photo: Taking over Mommy's spot
Owynn all comfy in my spot

Wednesday we stopped at the grocery store in the morning before my late shift and I picked up a 2lb package of strawberries (yum!).  I didn't have time to clean them and cut them before work and the boys weren't too happy about that.  When they woke up from their nap they snuck into the fridge and ate one bite out of almost all the strawberries, then put them all back.  Awesome.  Friday Owynn  went up to Oliver, gave him a big hug and kiss, and said in his little toddler voice, your my best friend Oliver.  OMG cutest thing ever!!!

Friday was also my Mom's birthday.  Happy Birthday Mum!  I really wish we could be out there to help you celebrate, we miss you a lot!  I wish I had some pics of me when I was little on my computer, but I don't right now.  That's a big project for much later.  So here is one from our trip last year.

Happy Birthday Mum, we love and miss you!

First Movie for the Boys!

We had a big weekend this weekend!  I cut the boys hair on Friday night, it went pretty much as I expected.  Owynn sat there patiently while I cut it, his came out pretty well.  Oliver screamed bloody murder the whole time, his is shorter, but definitely messy around the edges.

Saturday morning we got up early and went to the movies!  This was the first time we have taken the boys to the theater and I was pretty nervous about it.  In about 3 weeks they will be 2 & 1/2.  Originally I had planned on waiting until they were a bit older, but the opportunity presented itself and I didn't want to pass it up.  John's parent's insurance company puts on customer events every so often.  This weekend they had a 10am super discounted showing of Monsters University (awesome!).
I found this by searching Google Images

We woke the boys up early, got them dressed, and headed right out the door.  I was worried that we would have to take the boys out of the theater while we were there, but we didn't have to.  They did pretty well, better than I expected.   We arrived shortly before the movie started, got our popcorn, candy, and drinks, then found some seats.  They had little booster seats for the kids which was great.  The nice thing about going to an event like this was that there were several families with small children and the theater wasn't crowded even though it was opening weekend.  They sat still watching the movie for at least the first half.  Owynn sat in his booster seat and Oliver sat in my lap.  I think Oliver was a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing.  ( We did try talking to them about going to the movies beforehand, but I don't know how much they really understood.)  They were pretty excited to have popcorn and reese's pieces to snack on (breakfast of champions here).  That helped to keep them a bit distracted for awhile.  They did get antsy, but they did ok walking along our row of seats (we had a whole row to ourselves).  Owynn kept looking at the screen and saying "WOW".  It was pretty cute.  Overall we had a pretty good time, we really enjoyed Monsters University.  While it wasn't quite as good as the first, it was cute, and we laughed a whole lot.  It was neat to see a bit of back story for some of the other minor characters in Monsters Inc.  I would definitely recommend taking your family to see it.

So So Tired, but Happy!

So I think I'm finally out of my weird funk, so yay!  I feel normal again.  I don't know why it happened or really what changed, but I feel like myself again.  Last week at work was good surprisingly, I had thought we had finally hit out summer slow down.  Haha, think again.  This past week was crazy!  I have been extra worn out lately.  It's been pretty much work, come home, spend time with the kiddos, eat, sleep, repeat.  I feel like I've been neglecting my blog a bit, but man am I worn out.  I'm happy though, all seems right in my immediate little world here.  John is happy with his new job, and it seems to be going well so far.  The late nights took a bit for me to get used to, but it has been working out well.  The boys are doing great.  Oliver knows his alphabet now, I am way impressed by that.  Owynn has been saying all sorts of funny things.  His new favorite phrase is "Huh, what's going on here?"  It cracks me up every time!  They are such hams!

Lighting Frustration

A few weeks ago one of the ceiling lights in our kitchen blew.  We have 2 ceiling fixtures, because even though our apartment is small our kitchen is surprisingly large.  I am a little bit obsessive about replacing a blown light bulb as soon as it burns out.  My husband would say that is an understatement.  When I buy light bulbs I buy them in bulk so I always have extra on hand when one goes out.  The light blew in the morning, and I tried to ignore it most of the day.  We don't have a step ladder, and I really dislike standing on chairs.  But by dinner time I couldn't take it any more.  I HATE cooking in a kitchen that isn't well lit, and it had been slowly eating away at me all day.  So I grabbed my giant box of light bulbs and a chair, determined to fix it.  Well imagine my very angry surprise when I discovered this.

I was pissed, who the angry 4 letter word, puts a fluorescent light like this in an apartment!?!? ARGH!  John looked online immediately and it turns out it's going to cost us like $25 to replace this.  I am soooooo not happy.   It's now fairly low on my priority list, and that annoys me to no end.  But we need things like groceries, hair cuts for all my guys, sandals for the boys, and to put away money for a few fun things we have planned this summer first.  Grumble grumble grumble.

Who Loves Orange Soda?!

I have a problem. I think I like orange soda way too much. Some people enjoy wine or other alcohol; I like to sit down and enjoy a nice cold glass of orange Crush. Oh man do I love it. Some days I feel like Kel from All That and Kenan & Kel.

I drink way too much soda and that's no secret. I have been trying to cut back on it. I have been drinking mostly the new 7-Up 10 products (only 10 calories!), which aren't bad, but still don't taste quite like regular soda. I have also been drinking a whole lot of raspberry ice tea lately, but I'm not sure all that caffeine is good for me either. I know water is the best, but I'm weird and I don't really enjoy drinking it at all (I do try though). Yesterday I had some orange Crush, it had been awhile, and I had forgotten what I was missing. Man I loooove orange soda.

I Used to Think I Had Lots of Patience, Now I Have Toddlers

I used to think I had lots of patience, really now I'm not so sure.  The boys are almost 2 1/2 now and pretty typical toddlers.  I feel like all I ever say is no.  "No no no no NO!", "Shut the Fridge", "Don't touch the trash", "Stop jumping on your bed", Don't climb on your changing table".  I'm trying to do my best as a parent, but I find myself wondering sometimes if I'm doing everything right, am I yelling too much?  I can't be the only parent who feels this way right???

Don't get me wrong, the boys can be total sweethearts.  Owynn now says "I luf you" which makes my heart melt.  Oliver really loves hugs and snuggles.  And they are pretty darn cute.

So not the most current photo, but I love this one. Oliver and Owynn their first Halloween 2011.

But then there are days like today where I was counting down the minutes to nap time, hoping that after they get up they will be in a better mood.  (Owynn didn't nap and is quietly hanging out with us in the living room playing with his kindle fire.  Oliver is sound asleep, he really needed it.)
Or yesterday; the boys woke up and instead of going into the living room and turning on the tv or getting out their kindles, they decided they needed to raid the pantry.  They dumped corn meal all over the carpet in the living room.  Dumped out my baking soda on the kitchen floor, along with onion soup mix, yeast, and other baking supplies I keep in there.  They also got into my little baggie of hershey kisses I had saved from my baby shower that said "It's A Boy", which were almost 3 years old, there were bits of wrapper everywhere.  The boys also got into the birthday candles, we're hoping they didn't eat any of those.
Or the day before yesterday.  They pushed Oliver's bed up against their dresser so they could reach the stuff on top.  They got down a small bottle of lotion and got it all over Owynn, Oliver's teddy bear, and the bed.

I've been told by other parents of multiples that things don't necessarily get easier, just different.  I can see that, but I'm still really hoping this stage will get a bit easier.

It's That Random Time of the Week

Last week this awesome shirt came in the mail courtesy of our best friends.  Thanks again you guys, it means so much to me!  This is my new favorite shirt.
In support of all those affected by the bombings in Boston

The boys are definitely boys.  I went in to check on the boys before I went to bed the other night and found that Oliver had a poopy diaper.  Oliver stayed fairly asleep the whole time I changed him, until towards the end.  With his eyes closed and still half asleep he farted, smiled, and said "toot toot!" What a ham.  Owynn was jumping on our bed earlier this week when he farted and said "I poop on the bed!" Uh no, try again.  "How about you poop in the potty?" "No!" *sigh*

We've started potty training, but aren't like really pressing it right now.  We have two potty chairs in the living room and the boys sit on the potty a few times a day, but still haven't used them yet.  The boys know what they're for, they just don't have the attention span to sit still yet.  I'm afraid if we push too hard and they aren't quite ready yet that we will end up completely messing up this whole potty training thing.

John got a new job, he just started last week.  It's still brand new, so I don't want to say too much quite yet.  He is working part time, late at night.  John's first night I was all excited for some alone time.  Ya, the novelty wore off very quickly.  I remembered pretty fast that I'm not a huge fan of being along at night.  Not that I'm complaining, it's just something new I'm going to have to get used to.  I am very thankful for him and everything he does for us.

Throwback Thursday: I Wish I Was Going to Disney World

My parents are going to Disney World in Orlando, FL at the end of the month for their 30th wedding anniversary.  (Yay you guys!)  I talked to one of my best friends the other night, and she will be there at the same time.  I am totally jealous.  I love all things Disney, and I really can't wait until we can bring the boys.  And after I found that costuming video I've been thinking about Disney a lot more, I really do miss it down there.  I've loved Disney since I was little, and it's where I met my husband.  Here are some pics from our honeymoon.  We spent a little over a week there just before our 1st anniversary.  I have a ton of pics, but I can't seem to find my memory card with them all on it right now.  So here are just a few that I have on Facebook.

I Have the Monday Blues, But It Was a Good Weekend

It's Sunday night I am seem to be in a funk.  Monday is almost here and I find myself almost dreading it.  Work lately has been hard and it seems as if it's really been getting to me lately.  I go and do my best to deal with it, but it's gotten to a point where it's wearing me down.  I find myself some nights staying up really late, telling John if I go to bed it will just make the next day come faster and I'm not ready for it yet.  *Sigh*  I'm hoping things get better soon.

This weekend though was fun and relaxing, and totally what I needed it to be.  Friday night we swung by my MIL's work just before closing to say hi.  When we were leaving the boys decided they wanted to go with Grandma and Grandpa, not us.  The boys climbed into their van and Owynn said "My buckle me" (buckle me in) and then after awhile he said "my close me" (shut the door).  Alrighty then, apparently I'm not as fun as Grandma and Grandpa.  So we followed them home and they boys had a lot of fun playing.  Grandma took these pics.

Saturday we spent the day over at my in-laws again.  One of the nice things about having a very long summer that starts early is that the pool is already open (yay!)  All Owynn could talk about Saturday morning was going to swim.  We didn't spend too much time in the pool because we haven't gotten any floaties for the boys yet, and they think they can swim (they really really can't).  So it was a bit stressful.  We spent awhile though having a good time on the playground.  The boys thought it was very silly of Mommy to go down the slides after them.  Then we played with chalk and dirt again, and then had to have a bath (man they were dirty).

Today my boys took me shopping at Kohl's, they are sweethearts.  I was finally able to use the rest of my gift cards from Christmas and my birthday.  I'm very happy about getting some nice summer clothes that fit.  As much as I love t-shirts, I want to have a nicer option when I want.  And I got super cute sandals!
Sorry the image is kind of blurry, I found it by searching google images.  I bought these, except the straps and flowers are an adorable teal color.  I wanted something a bit dressier than my Nike flip flops that I can wear with a sundress or something similar if I wanted to.

A Peek Into My Disney Internship in Costuming

In 2003 I interned at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.  I was there from January through May as part of their College Program.  It came at a much needed time, and I had just an amazing amount of fun working there.  It helps that that's where I met John.  I worked at Epcot in their costuming department, I spent my time in both regular costuming (for everyone who worked in the park) and character costuming.

Everyone always asks me about character costuming, and let me tell you, it was booor-ing!  We washed, brushed, and mended costumes most of the day.  They keep the character heads in a separate locked room, and is honestly a little creepy when you go in there.  Although they did teach me how to dress and prep Scuba Mickey, who would scuba dive in the Living Seas.  While I won't go into detail, we did get to go up to the very top of the Living Seas.  They don't allow you to take photos up there, and very few people are actually allowed there, but it was absolutely amazing.  Seriously much more impressive than what the guests actually see.  While I only did it a few times, it was by far my favorite thing I got to do there.

During our off hours we were allowed to go the the parks for free, seriously best job perk ever!  We went and played in the parks almost daily, it was beyond amazing.  I mean we got to both work at Disney and play in their parks whenever we wanted!  It made visiting the parks so laid back and stress free.  We would go and spend a few hours there, hit our favorite rides and attractions, grab some yummy food, and head back to our apartments.  To say I loved it would be an understatement.

Anyways, I found this video and article on ABC News and had to share!  While they show Magic Kingdom Costuming, it is very very similar to Epcot.  Epcot is only slightly smaller and is set up a bit differently, it still has the endless racks and racks of costumes.  It's pretty darn impressive in there when you think about it.  And the awesome multi-colored costumes that the cast members working behind the counter wear, ya, I totally got to rock those.

It's Random Tuesday Time!

I am not a big fan of Mondays.  It's the start of the week and also usually our busiest day at work.  I won't go on a long angry rant about work, because I really really need my job.  But I will say that they aren't making it very easy for us, and we are starting to get burnt out.  Monday was hands down the worst day I have had in a very very long time.  By the end of the day I was so stressed and grumpy that I felt a bit like the angry waitress from the movie Waiting.  After work was finally over I decided I needed some comfort food.  So I stopped at Sonic and got us shakes (they're half price after 8pm!) and grabbed a pizza from Dominos (they have an awesome week night carry out special).  They were inexpensive (all for a little over $10, score!), absolutely delicious, and totally what I needed.  Although it was the boys who were really able to make my day all better.  They were in a really good mood and super happy to see me.  We had fun playing before bedtime.  Owynn though made me melt.

Me: Owynn, Mommy needs a hug
Owynn: (Gives me a big hug and pats me on the back.)  Love you
Me: I love you too =)
Owynn: (Looks at me) I happy
Me: Aaaawwww, I'm happy too!
Cutest. Thing. Ever!  He is such a sweetheart!

The weather here can't make up it's mind what it wants to do.  My mom has said that Mother Nature is dealing with menopause, and I can totally believe it.  A few weeks ago we went through 3 seasons in a week.  At the beginning of the week it snowed, then we had a couple days of Spring weather, but by the end of the week we were in the 80's.  This weekend was gorgeous, it was nicely breezy and in the upper 60's.  Perfect Spring weather.  Then Mother Nature decided that we needed to go ahead a skip right to summer.  Tuesday we hit 100, 100!!!   Gah!

I am a huge fan of the show Once Upon A Time on ABC.  We watched the season finale Sunday night, OMG!  I am soooo excited for the next season.  What Mr. Gold said at the end of the episode gave me chills, the next season has the potential to be pretty amazing.  They are making a spin off too based on Alice in Wonderland, I am hoping it will be just as good.
