Throwback Thursday: Owynn's First Haircut

Owynn had his first haircut (and Oliver's second) in May of 2012, at 16 months old.  He did very well, and barely cried.  I think I had a harder time with it than he did.
I don't know what I think about this

It's Time for Some Friday Randomness!

Another week, another cold, I am beyond ready for Spring.  It's March now (and almost my birthday!) bring on the nicer weather!  This winter has been a bit rough illness wise, it seems like as soon as we get over one thing we catch another bug.  I'm coming down with another cold, and poor Oliver still has a pretty awful sounding lingering cough from his cold.

Right now John is playing to new Need for Speed video game and it looks like a lot of fun!  I may actually have to try it out.  It's not terribly often that I find a game that I really like.    It's been a long time, but I really enjoy the Burnout series.  I have a frightening fondness for their crash mode, where your goal is to cause the most destruction possible.   And I am good at it too, which makes it that much more scary.

I feel like I am having some sort of blogger's bloc.  The craziness of the holidays has past and now it's just cold and boring outside.  We haven't spent a lot of time out of the house this winter because of our pretty constant state of illnesses.  We did have an appointment on Wednesday morning, after which we all went out to lunch at a local bbq joint.  It was super yummy and nice to have lunch out together.  The boys enjoyed it a lot too; I don't know why I'm constantly surprised at all the different foods they enjoy.   This weekend we plan on going out to get some more fish for our new fish tank.  I think the boys will be pretty excited about that.

The boys are getting so big I can't believe it!  Last weekend we got them haircuts and they look so much older now.  Where did my little babies go???  Oliver has hair a lot like John's, it sticks up straight in places and pretty much does whatever it wants.  So we decided to cut his hair really short.  The lady used the electric clippers for pretty much his whole haircut and he was NOT a happy camper.  She used scissors mainly for Owynn's haircut and he did an awesome job.

I plan on downloading a bunch of pictures that I've taken lately to my computer this weekend.  Hopefully I'll get some decent blog posts with some pictures together this weekend.  You know if I don't feel like I want to keel over because of this cold.

Up All Night

It's almost 4am here and I'm still awake.  It's like Friday nights have some sort of weekend magic where I can manage to stay up all night.  I stay up really late most Friday nights / Saturday mornings and I'm not 100% sure why.  Maybe it's because I get alone time? I mean usually we don't have anything going on Saturday mornings, although I always end up regretting staying up so late.  I'm not really doing anything important.  I usually spend my time watching mindless tv, playing on facebook, reading blogs, and working on mine.  It's a nice way to unwind though after a long week.

This week has been long too.  Work was just kind of off all week.  We were pretty busy, like we always are at this time of the year; but it's more because this week has been marked by some pretty significant losses.  I don't think I should go into too much detail (sorry people), but a former co-worker suffered a major loss in their family (this hit everyone very hard).  And one of our great senior techs is leaving; it's a really great opportunity for her and we are all very happy for her, but she is going to be sorely missed.

I have been really looking forward to this weekend though!  John's parents have been nice enough to get the boys haircuts today (Saturday), I really can't wait to go.  Oliver's hair is getting totally unruly, it just sticks out everywhere.  Owynn's hair is so long it's starting to get into his eyes, it's just so shaggy!  At least with Oliver I can touch up his hair a bit between haircuts so it stays out of his eyes, but Owynn won't let me anywhere near his hair.  Sunday we are going to John's best friend's 30th Birthday Party, we are bowling then going out to dinner at the place they all used to hang out at in high school.  Should be lots of fun!

It's been a LONG week

I am so glad it's the weekend!  It's been a long stressful week.  After dealing with some extra super nasty acid reflux problems over the weekend and some not so fun motion sickness, John pretty much told me I had to go see the Dr.  Well that and the fact that I have been having to take way more Phenergan than normal.  Phenergan is awesome, it makes my stomach feel so much better and is great for motion sickness, but it makes me so tired and out of it.  John needed a follow up too because he is still dizzy and it's been about a month now.  So I scheduled us for a Wednesday evening appointment; I love that our Dr has a late day.  I got my shift changed at work, so I worked from 8:30-5 then got home as fast as possible, grabbed John and the kids, then rushed off to Omaha to see the Dr. at 6:15pm.  I was expecting the Dr to give John something to help his dizziness more and tell me that there wasn't much they could do and maybe try a new acid reflux medication.  Well boy was I wrong!  John has labyrinth-itis and has to let it run its course.  As for me, the Dr thinks that most of my problems stem from my gallbladder and maybe I should get it out.  Well angry four letter words...I don't want another surgery, but it would be soooooo nice not to have a stomach that hurts all the time and no more pain in my back.  Our Dr also said that there is a good chance that if I have it out it could help my motion sickness, which would be amazing!    Right now I am getting car sick way too often and I HATE it.  To me being nauseous and vomiting is like the worst thing in the world.  I avoid it at all possible costs.  Now I have to get up way early on Wednesday morning and head to the hospital to have an abdominal ultrasound.  They are checking for gallstones and I guess whatever else they can find or might be wrong in there.  So now I am all stressed, blech.

This morning I managed to get a lot done before work this afternoon!
- I dragged my butt out of bed early
- Talked to my Dr's office and scheduled my ultrasound
- Showered
- Worked on our budget
- Got the boys up, dressed, fed, and took the sheets off Oliver's bed because he wet through
- Took them to the grocery store to do some shopping including picking up something for dinner (yay me for thinking ahead)

I am pretty worn out now.  Work wasn't too bad though, we got new registers installed and I am excited about that ( I am such a dork!)  But they are so much better than our ancient systems were.  They are all touch screen and can do so much more, and are a lot faster.

This weekend should be lots of fun! Tomorrow is errand day, and I think we are going to take the boys to get haircuts.  It will be Owynn's first and Oliver's second.  I also need to do some grocery shopping and laundry.  Sunday though we are heading over to P&W's for a giant poker tournament.  I am super excited about that, plus we have a friend who is in town for the week from St. Louis!  It's going to be a lot of fun.  Well I suppose I should be off to bed, I have a long couple of days ahead of me.  I don't get the benefit of a long weekend, Monday is my holiday to work.  Which is ok, I volunteered for it, and it means I don't have to work 4th of July or Labor Day.  Oh no, Oliver woke up, night!
