Let's Try This Again

Really, I want to blog, I just feel like there is never enough time in the day. Today is Friday and it really doesn't feel like it. Although having to work tomorrow probably doesn't help. This week at work hasn't been too bad, I suppose I can't complain about a 4 day work week.

We got back Tuesday evening from a wonderful trip to NY to visit my family. We surprised my dad for his birthday and it was great! My grandparents even made the drive out from MA. I had 15 whole days off from work and I really really didn't want to go back. We arrived at my parents really late on the 11 and stayed until the morning of the 21. We made the drive out there in 2 days, but decided to drive home in 3, which made the drive much nicer. It was a little difficult making an 1100 mile trip with 2 7 month olds. The boys did amazingly well though, they fussed when they were hungry but not too much otherwise. Since I started work right the next morning after getting home I still feel like we haven't settled back in. Maybe Sunday I can get everything put away finally.

I suppose I should get going, I need to get ready for work and I am just delaying the inevitable. When I have more time I will post more about my vacation, it was really fantastic and I miss my family more now than I did before =(

TGIF

Well sort of TGIF, this week it was TGITh. I have enjoyed my day off, but every day I get to spend with the boys instead of working is a good one. My current goal is to blog more often, once I can manage that, then I will try and get my blog more "out there".

The boys had their 4 month check up recently. Owynn is up to 10lbs 8.5 oz (birth weight was 4lbs 7.8oz) and Oliver is now 12lbs 8oz (birth weight) 5lbs 2oz. Although small compared to other 4 month olds, they are doing great for being preemie twins (born at 34 weeks and 5 days). Eventually I think I will blog a bit about my pregnancy, I know I wished I could have found more about twin pregnancies when I was pregnant. Perhaps I could have searched more, but I had a bit of a hard time finding info about having twins. I think Owynn is getting close to rolling over and Oliver has discovered (finally learned it from Daddy) that he can blow raspberries (and that we think it's adorable). They are getting big and keep changing all the time. I have some cute photos I should post later. Right now dinner is almost done, have a great night!

Happy Mother's Day (a day early)

Things around here have been going pretty well. My in-laws came up last Saturday and we had a late Easter. I was a little stressed about it, but it was a very nice day. They brought yummy food, and I think I managed to eat the majority of the deviled eggs. I dressed the boys alike, and we got some adorable pics. I don't dress them alike too often, partly because I don't have a lot of identical outfits, and partly because the identical outfits I do have are in the same size. Most days I like that they are wearing different size clothes.

Easter weekend we went to P&W's on Saturday and had a great time, but then again we always do. They graciously treated us to Chipotle and we played pitch. Hopefully we will get to see them next weekend. We live about an hour away from my IL's and most of our friends. Although we go down to visit them often, we don't manage to go as often as we would like.

Yesterday I had a really good day at work, which lately hasn't been happening very often. I'm really not overly thrilled about working full time, but I don't really have much of a choice about it. There are days I feel good about it, knowing I am providing for my family, but other days the guilt creeps in. I miss the boys all day and feel like I am missing out on a lot. Owynn laughed for the first time on Easter and I missed it since I was working. Luckily I was home five days later when Oliver did. It was pretty adorable, he was very happy and smiling, giggled, then gave himself the hiccups, then got upset about it. Anyways! Yesterday we were able to wear jeans to work, which was great! If we donated $5 to Chrohn's and Colitis we received a t-shirt and were able to wear jeans yesterday, and will be able to again next Friday. Soon after I arrived at work I actually got a tip from a customer, which is very unusual. Apparently he had come in a day or two before and the person who helped him was unable to get his manufacturer card to go through. I was able to do it fairly quickly for him and saved him over $300. He was so happy and thankful that he left me a tip. I felt bad about accepting it, because really we aren't supposed to. But I followed the rule they taught us at Disney. Refuse three times and if they still insist, then you may accept it and say thank you. So I did what we typically do when something like that happens, I bought a bunch of candy for everyone in the pharmacy to share. The rest of the day went very smoothly, and everyone was in a really good mood. It also helped that the weather was absolutely gorgeous yesterday, we actually hit 80.

I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend with the boys. Today I am going to try and get my haircut. I am thrilled about this, last time I got it cut was Dec. of 2009 when I was visiting my parents in NY and donated it to Locks of Love. I wanted to get my haircut before the boys were born, but I was put on bed rest at 26 weeks and wasn't able to. Oh the joys of pre-term labor! I am hoping my hair will be long enough to donate again, if not then I will have to wait a few more months, and I really really don't want to. We have grocery shopping to do later, and my small to do list. Tomorrow for Mother's Day I am hoping we can all go to the zoo. I haven't been yet with the boys and I really want to. I am so glad that John bought a membership to the zoo, the Omaha zoo is fantastic. It is rated as one of the top zoos in the country, and we always have a great time when we go.

The boys are doing really well. Oliver has started showing signs of teething, he had a pretty rough couple of days earlier this week. But he is feeling much better now. Owynn is finally getting bigger, I am pretty sure he went through a big growth spurt the past couple of weeks. I think it is finally time to pack away his newborn clothes, this makes me both happy and sad. I have some pretty adorable newborn clothes and am sad to see him grow out of them. But at the same time, he is almost 4 months old now and finally getting much bigger.

Well it's already noon (where did my morning go?) time to get my butt in gear. Happy Mother's day everyone, especially to my mom (Elle over at http://bluemonkeybutt.com/home/ ) =) I live 1,000 miles away from my family and it's hard being so far away.

Thank You Fox News

I love the Colbert Report! And thank you Fox News, thank you. Walgreens has actually been getting calls about this, people seriously have been asking for these kind of services. *ugh*

Weekend Update

This weekend was an end to a very long week. I had a stretch of seven days in a row, yuck. At least Saturday wasn't bad, we were pretty slow. Then after work John and I took the boys to our best friend's P&W's house for a fun relaxing evening of playing cards. It was just what I needed, and a lot of fun. Then again we always have a good time with them. Sunday evening I went to Kohl's and spent my birthday gift card (thanks Mum!). I bought myself a new purse, which I am very happy about, I probably didn't need it, but I really wanted one. It's been at least a couple years since I bought a new one, and I always buy a cheap one. I am glad I got a nicer one for myself. I also bought a new pair of pants and a couple of new shirts. It was very nice shopping for my new post baby(s) self.

I also got the boys a couple of summer outfits and several pairs of shorts. I need to go through their closet again, but I don't have a whole lot of summer clothes for them. Actually I have a lot of shirts, just not many pairs of pants or shorts. I need to see too how many sleepers they have, I may need more of those too. Owynn is finally starting to transition into 0-3 month clothes (only because he is getting too long for a lot of his newborn clothes), while Oliver is between that and the 3-6 month size. The boys turned 3 months old on the 14 and little Owynn is still in newborn clothes and diapers. Although once Owynn finishes this box of diapers we are finally going to move him up to size 1, not so much because they are too small, more so because he just pees so much.

The boys are doing well. During the past two weeks we have all gone through a cold which wasn't a whole lot of fun, but the boys handled it surprisingly well. I am starting to think Oliver may be going through a growth spurt, he has been eating a lot more than normal the past couple of days. Owynn is starting to eat about 6oz each feeding pretty consistently, yay! We have them on a combo of formula and breast milk. They were preemies and since birth they have been on two feedings a day of Similac's Neosure to help them grow and gain weight. Owynn is on it until at least their four month check up. At their two month appointment the Dr. said Oliver could stop it, but since he has always had the two feedings of formula a day we decided to keep going with that. He gets Similac's Advanced Complete formula now, luckily we had some free samples to start out with. The get a formula bottle every night right before bedtime and one every morning when they get up. During the day I either nurse them or they get a milk bottle. It has been working very well for us so far. I want to continue nursing them for as long as possible.

Oh well, I suppose I should try and get something done around here, Owynn is back asleep and Oliver hasn't woken up quite yet. It is nice to have a Monday off for a change.
