Yay it's the weekend!

I had a pretty good week this week, well really it was highlighted by my afternoon out with W. Tomorrow our mechanic friend is coming over to look at our sad broken Dodge. Hopefully it won't cost us a small fortune to fix ( you know, like the transmission did). The battery has to be replaced, but after that I am curious to know what it will take to get it running ok. Saturday is my day to get things done this weekend, but Sunday will be lots of fun. Sunday John has his podcast with P. Since P&W live all the way on the other side of town I think I will take the boys to the outdoor mall on the south side of town. I think it will be fun to look around and maybe get some ice cream. It should be a gorgeous day out on Sunday. Once John & P are done with their podcast the boys and I will head over to play some poker. I'm thinking about making some death by chocolate to bring over to poker. I love that stuff, but it makes way too much for just John and I. It should be a really fun day! I am so happy that the weather is starting to be so Spring like, although I can't really complain much about the mild winter we've had. Well shoot, I just checked the weather and it may be rainy on Sunday (Boo!), but after that it looks like it will be in the 70's all week (YAY!)

In just a few short weeks we will be going on vacation! We will be cramming into our little car and road tripping out to my parent's in Upstate NY. My grandparents will be making the trip there from MA, I am so excited. We will also be spending Easter there too. I am sooooooo looking forward to making Easter cookies, and having a wonderful dinner made by my dad. I have 2 & 1/2 weeks off, and we will be gone pretty much the entire time. I am so looking forward to it. We also plan on getting photos done of the boys, and I am going to try and talk my husband into getting a family photo done. I think this time I will try and plan our time there a little more. I hope the weather will be nice enough that we can spend some time in the village on the canal. I want to take the boys to one of the parks, and go to Friendly's. I really wish we had a Friendly's out here. But most importantly I am looking forward to spending a lot of time with my family. It's not always easy living so far away.

The boys are starting to enter the separation anxiety phase. Most days I leave for work before they get up, but Friday's it's hard. While I was trying to put on my shoes Owynn took one and crawled away with it. Then Oliver went and sat in front of the door so I couldn't leave. They both have started to get very upset when either one of us leaves. It makes it very hard to go when they are crying and want us to stay.

I suppose it should be bedtime. It's really late and I have a lot to do tomorrow. Well I guess technically today. Working until 10pm on Friday nights really throws me off, I am always up so late after work.

Double Trouble

Apparently this is what happens when I go to the bathroom. Really, I wasn't in there for that long! I thought the donut box was far enough out of their reach, but I guess I was wrong. They were too adorable not to snap a few photos before taking the donuts away and telling them that they shouldn't be doing that.

Oliver is walking now, and Owynn has taken his first steps. Owynn says "all done" surprisingly well, and Oliver is trying to say it too. I can't believe how big they are getting, they have done so much in such a short amount of time!

Tuesdays are my early days at work and I am off at 3:30pm (yay for getting out early, boo for having to go in so early). I went out with W and we had an awesome afternoon hanging out without our spouses and kids, it was great! We went bowling and then to Chipotle for dinner. We used to bowl on a league several years ago; it's also been a very long time since I have been bowling. We bowled three games and I scored 116, 141, and 122. I was very happy with myself, especially since it had been so long. We talked about the possibility of joining another league, and I am really hope it's something we can do. The next day though, oh man was I sore! From bowling! I felt really out of shape, but it was totally worth it! It was so nice to go out. I thought about it, and I have only been out with my friends one other time since the boys were born. I think I forgot how much fun it is. We are all going to get together and play poker this weekend too, I can't wait.

TGIF, the weekend is almost here! Hopefully your weather will be as beautiful as it's supposed to be here!

This week has gone by surprisingly fast. At his haircut last week Oliver was absolutely perfect. He sat there and played with a comb and didn't make a peep. The lady even used kid sized electric sheers and got around his ears and neck. He just sat there the whole time enjoying himself, it was great, I was a little worried. The lady kept saying how good he was being. I thought she was just being nice, until the little boy after us went and started crying.

He looks like such a big boy now! He did so well that we went out to lunch afterwards, then did some shopping. We had such a fun afternoon out. We were shopping during their "normal" nap time. (They don't have a strict afternoon nap time.) But Owynn decided he was sleepy, so when we got to Best Buy he was sound asleep in his car seat. I took him out and he settled himself on my shoulder. He then proceeded to sleep while I carried him around Best Buy the entire time we were there.

We have been so lucky with the boys, so far they have been fantastic sleepers, and are always so good when we go out. Monday we went to Sam's Club after I got off work and we didn't get home until about 9pm. We got home, gave them a late dinner, put them to bed late, and then they slept in late the next morning. Through the whole thing the boys weren't fussy at all; they are just so laid back.

On a very happy note, my vacation time was finally approved. It only took like a month to get the final ok. I have 2 & 1/2 weeks off at the beginning of April! We are going to go visit my family in NY, and my grand parents are planning on making the trip out too. I really can't wait! It's going to be a very long drive though. I am a little worried about how the boys are going to handle 3 days in the car each way. John did a good job of planning our route though. We are going to drive about 6 hours each day, with hopefully one stop in the middle of the day. We thought about other possibilities, but there really aren't many good stopping points in Iowa or Ohio. We will be there for Easter and are planning on getting the boys' pictures taken again. I need to get my to do list together and start knocking stuff off of it. To say that there is a lot to do before we leave would be a gross understatement.

I suppose it should be bedtime, it's getting late and I should try and get some sleep. Closing at work always throws me off.

Oliver's Big Day

Oliver learned 2 new exciting things today! 1-He can throw things, which we aren't too terribly thrilled about. 2-He can walk! He had taken his first few steps at their birthday party on Jan. 21, but today he finally understood it. =) He spent at least a half an hour after I got home from work walking back and forth between me and John. It was so amazingly adorable! He's obviously still very wobbly and falls a lot, but he is walking! We are so excited, although I think Owynn was a little upset by all the attention Oliver was getting. They both could tell something exciting was going on though and were both happy and giggling a lot. As soon as I pulled out the camera to get video, the boys both decided that the camera would be lots of fun to try and play with. Hopefully we'll get some video of Oliver walking tomorrow.

Tomorrow is another big day for Oliver too, we are taking him to get his very first haircut. I am both sad and happy about this. His hair is getting really long, it's constantly in his face over his eyes, and people are starting to ask me if he's a girl. My little baby is getting so big, it makes me a little sad. He is really almost a toddler now and is getting to be such a big boy. The other night I managed to wake him up while checking on them before I went to bed. I snuggled with him on the couch in hopes of getting him back to sleep, and I realized just how big he has gotten. He used to fit snugly on my shoulder, now his head is on my shoulder and his feet dangle off the opposite side of my lap =( .

Owynn is doing very well. I think he is finally over his constipation, but we plan on keeping his diet pretty high in fiber. He has 3 teeth now, two on the bottom and one on the top! He calls me Mama now, but really only when he's upset. He is 18 & 1/2lbs now, I can't believe how big he is getting. He is also getting into absolutely everything. We went grocery shopping the other night and we picked up a couple of 12-packs of Crush and I left them sitting in front of the baby gate separating the living room and kitchen. While I was making dinner he stood on top of the soda, leaned over the baby gate and started trying to eat cucumber peels out of the trash. Luckily they weren't sitting on top of anything yucky. He is still putting everything he finds into his mouth. I think Owynn will starting walking soon too. He walks pretty well while you are holding onto his hands, and he goes really fast with his push toy. He is such a happy baby too =) .

Things here are going well with us, John and I spent last weekend celebrating our anniversary in Omaha. John's parents took the boys over night and we were able to spend a fun weekend on our own. We did a lot of shopping, went to dinner, and stayed at a more fancy than we are used to hotel in midtown.

Well it's already Saturday now and I suppose it's bed time, we have lots to do tomorrow!

Hopefully the Third Time is a Charm!

I really want to keep this blog going. It's a great way to keep a record of everything the boys have been doing. The boys turned 1 on Jan 14, and I really just can not believe it. They have gotten so much bigger! Apparently they have finally hit the 5th percentile for their weight. But I guess when you combine their height and weight they are very proportional, or so the nurse says. They were weighed on Friday and Oliver is up to 19lbs and Owynn is at 18lbs & 12 oz. That is a gain of 2lbs and 1 & 1/2lbs in the course of a month! They are mostly in 9 month clothes now. Although their torsos are really long and I think they can probably get away with 12 month shirts. I finally found jeans for the boys that fit really well. Their problem always is that they need long pants, but to get the length the waist is always so big. Target's brand Circo makes baby jeans with elastic waist bands and they are fantastic! The pants are the perfect length and they don't fall down! I bought a pair for each of the boys for Christmas. Once we get our tax refund I plan on going back to Target and getting some more.

The boys have been doing so many new things! By the beginning of December Oliver was working on his 4 front teeth. We finally noticed Owynn's first tooth on Dec. 8. Owynn is now working on his two bottom teeth and one on the top. Oliver has become such a sweetheart. He loves to give everyone big hugs and kisses, his gives kisses by usually eating your nose. Before Christmas Owynn fell asleep on the floor and Oliver crawled over to him, looked at him, gave him a kiss, then crawled away. It was so super cute. Now he gives Owynn hugs a lot. Both the boys can walk now while holding our fingers or while pushing toys around. Oliver will stand on his own without holding onto anything, and he actually took his first steps during his birthday party! Owynn has finally started calling me Mama, although he only does it when he's really upset and crying.
Well it's bedtime, here's to hoping I can keep us with his.
